TRANCE AS A CREATIVE REORGANISATION

The induction and conservation of the trance aim to create a special psychological state in which patients are able to reassociate and reorganize their inner psychological complexities and to use their personal abilities to fit their experiential life. […] Therapy is the result of an inner behavioral re-synthesis made by the patient himself. Direct suggestions can certainly cause alterations of the patient’s behavior and the resolution, at least temporarily, of the symptoms. But this “resolution” is a simple response to suggestion and does not imply any reassociation or reorganization of ideas, points of view and memories, which are essential to achieve true healing. It is this experience of reassociation and reorganization of one’s own experiential life that, in the end, produces healing, instead of the mere manifestation of responsive behavior, which, in the best case scenario, can only satisfy the observer.
